Per Kennedy 2010 (high-dose B-complex in healthy adults) and Kennedy 2016 (B-vitamins and the brain), high-dose B-complex (50-100 mg of B1, B3, B6) improves subjective mood, energy, and cognitive performance during stress. Best taken in the morning (B6 and B12 are stimulating).

The B6 neuropathy trap: chronic B6 (pyridoxine) supplementation above 100 mg/day causes peripheral neuropathy — numbness, tingling, and ataxia in the hands and feet. Several B-complex products contain near-UL doses of B6 (50-100 mg). Symptoms are usually reversible if caught early, but documented cases exist at 200-500 mg/day for months. Probably not. The "methylated is always better" claim is partly marketing. For people without MTHFR variants, the body converts folic acid to 5-MTHF and cyanocobalamin to methylcobalamin without difficulty. It is caused by histamine release and prostaglandin synthesis. The niacinamide form does NOT cause flushing. Avoid nicotinic acid on an empty stomach — taking it with food reduces the flush.
